Mum reveals very clever beach hack to keep kids busy – and it costs £2

A MUM has revealed her clever and cost-friendly way to make a kid’s day at the beach even more enjoyable.

All parents know that children can get bored no matter where they are and that it’s always good to be prepared.

The video showed how the parents take paints to the beach for their kids to paint shellsTikTok/@handsonfamily

This is even true for a day at the beach where the sand and sea are sometimes not enough to keep their curious minds occupied.

Lots of people have their own unique ways to entertain their little ones and Tiktokers The Hands-On Family (@handsonfamily) showed their clever and cheap method for days at the seaside.

In a video, they showed how they always pack a small set of watercolour paints in their beach bag.

They then encourage their kids to go out and pick up some shells so they can all paint them together.

The footage of the kids quietly going about their painting is accompanied by a voiceover saying: “Show me the life hack that you randomly saw one day that is now an unconscious standard practice in your life.”

The video has since been seen more than three million times, with lots of people amazed by the idea.

One wrote: “We’re going to Hawaii next week and I def need something for baby while mama has a beer. Perfect!”

Another said: “Love this idea! We’ve brought watercolour paint to the snow but never to the beach!”

A third added: “Fab idea! I’ll be taking paints to the beach for my girls from now on!”

The paints used by the mum in the video were a set of 16 Crayola washable watercolours with a paintbrush.

They’re available on Toys For a Pound for just £2.

The Hands-On Family aren’t the only people sharing beach hacks for their kids on Tiktok.

Anna Usher suggested parents dig a hole and use a tarp to create a mini pool of seawater away from the ocean.

Known online as @ausher81818, she regularly shares parenting tips and family updates with her 72,200 followers.

In a video last month she said: “The best beach hack for little kids.

“One, dig a hole. Two, put down a tarp. Three, fill it with water.”

The hack allows younger children to experience the sea water and having a splash, but keeps them safe from strong currents and other swimmers in the process.

Meanwhile, this is the age that kids should start paying their own way on family holidays.

And here’s the rules for taking kids on holiday during term time.
