A HUGE multi-million-pound plan has been given the go-ahead to save a popular UK airport.
Doncaster Sheffield Airport was forced to close last year, with the last TUI flight landing on November 4, 2022.

The Peel Group, who currently owns the airport, said it was no longer “commercially viable” to operate flights from.
However, the City of Doncaster Council has been campaigning to reopen the airport by buying it back from the Peel Group.
The council has now agreed to set aside £3.1 million of funding as part of the reopening campaign, to cover legal costs.
A report following the meeting today said: “Given its strategic importance, economic value and significant growth potential, plans to re-open the airport are being vigorously pursued.
“There is extensive support for the reopening of DSA from the public and business community, along with cross-party political backing.
This includes petitions with more than 130,000 signatories that have called for the airport to be saved.”
Doncaster Mayor Ros Jones previously said the fight for the airport was “not over”.
She said: “The acquisition process will take time and it will not be cheap.
“However, this airport has the potential to be the jewel in the crown of the Doncaster and South Yorkshire economy.
“It is an investment in the future of this great city and the region.”
Doncaster Sheffield Airport first opened in 2005 and eventually flew to as many as 50 destinations including Spain and Cyprus, as well as Romania and Poland.
Once voted the best UK airport, according to Which?, the airport struggled after airline Wizz Air pulled out.
Only TUI flights remained in operation, eventually leading to its closure in 2022.
Other UK airports could soon reopen too.
Manston Airport in Kent is being rebuilt and will launch flights to the UK this summer to Europe.
And Plymouth Airport hopes to reopen after being closed for more than a decade.
