The news were shared on a Facebook page specialised in announcing the UK’s latest food products.

It was described as an “all butter pastry, filled with out Collection mincemeat, topped with an indulgent chocolate and hazelnut truffle layer, finished with caramelised hazelnuts,” the packaging read.

The picture got more than 1,000 likes but has left social media users divided.

Among the hundreds of comments, one person wrote: “I need these.”

Another said: “Get rid of the mincemeat and these would be delicious.”

A third replied: “I am trying these definitely.”

Meanwhile, original mince pie fans did not welcome the recipe twist that much, with one writing: “Why destroy a good mince pie?”

Another added: “Don’t mess with an original mince pie.”

It comes after M&S shoppers were going wild for the return of the Percy Pig advent calendar but some fans have spotted a major flaw.

Percy and Colin fans can now countdown to Christmas with the help of their favourite characters.

Marks and Spencer has announced the arrival of Percy and Colin advent calendars on social media and it caused quite a stir among Percy aficionados.

However, some fans of the duo are not impressed, especially when it comes to Percy.

Rather than finding a Percy Pig behind each door in the countdown to Christmas, fans of the sweet treat will need to wait until Christmas Day.

Instead, the calendar includes 24 Percy-shaped chocolates that are flavoured like the popular sweet treat.

Only on December 25 will fans get their hands on a bag of actual Percy Pigs.

Disappointed shoppers have taken to social media to vent their frustration with one saying “When you see Percy you expect to get Percy”.

Another person said: “I still cannot get my head around why the Percy Pig calendar doesn’t contain Percy Pig Sweets.. it’s so obvious..why?”

Another agreed and said: “I’ve said this every year and still chocolate”.

While another added: ” I actually bought the Percy Pig Advent calendar last year thinking it contained Percy Pig sweets.

“I was absolutely gutted when I opened the first door to find chocolate”.

Marks and Spencer did reply to shoppers on Facebook and said that they would “let the food team know” that customers would prefer to see sweets each day rather than chocolate.

They added that they would “keep this in mind if we do a similar calendar for next year”.

The less controversial Colin advent calendar includes different Colin-themed milk chocolates every day in the lead-up to Christmas.

On the big day, you will get a bag of festive mini Colin faces, and there are also activities on the back of the box.

Both calendars are available to purchase in Marks and Spencer Foodhalls or on Ocado both priced at £6.
