Morgan Freeman forced to pull out of press trip after falling ill

Morgan Freeman has been forced to pull out of his press trip after unexpectedly falling ill.

The 86-year-old was due to fly to the UK to promote his new spy thriller Special Ops: Lioness alongside Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana but instead was forced to stay home.

His representative confirmed that the star had fallen ill but is now on the mend.

”Mr. Freeman was not able to attend his planned trip to the UK because he had a contagious infection,” Morgan’s representative said in a statement. “He is fine now.”

The explanation comes after the star missed two key appearances.

Freeman’s absence was first noticed during a segment on The One Show, when the actor was a no-show despite being advertised as a guest.

While in conversation with his co-stars, host Alex Jones, 46, expressed she was “so gutted” he couldn’t make it, however no explanation was given to viewers.

Freeman also missed a morning photo call for his latest project at Savoy Place as well as an evening screening at the Tate Britain.

The spy thriller follows the life of marine Joe (Zoe) who struggles to balance her personal and professional life while leading the CIA’s spear in the war on terror.

In the hotly-anticipated show, due for release on July 23, Freeman plays Edwin Mullins, the United States secretary of state.

Despite the actor picking up new projects and making consistent media appearances, his health has been the subject of attention since his 2008 car accident which left him with irreparable nerve damage to his left hand.

Since the incident the star has battled with fibromyalgia.

He still suffers pain, and is constantly spotted wearing a compression glove while performing or hosting events, most recently during his appearance at the 2022 World Cup.
