Miranda Lambert lashed online after halting concert to scold fans taking selfies

Country star Miranda Lambert is in hot water after she scolded fans at a concert for taking a selfie during her performance.

Lambert, who is in the midst of a Las Vegas residency, was midway through singing Tin Man on stage on Sunday when she abruptly stopped hershow.

“I’m gonna stop right here for a second, I’m sorry. These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song. It’s pissing me off a little bit,” she said.

The Only Prettier singer added that she did not appreciate the behaviour “at all”.

“We’re here to hear some country music tonight. I’m singing some country damn music,” she said.

Before launching back into the song, Lambert gestured ‘stop’ to the fans who were taking selfies.

The incident was captured by a fan in the crowd, who subsequently posted the clip to TikTok.

While the crowd cheered when Lambert stopped the show to call out the audience members, others can be seen getting up and leaving the concert altogether.

One could even be heard saying, “Let’s go. You don’t do that to fans.”

A few hours after the incident, an Instagram account called @lifestyle_with_adela posted a picture, claiming they were the fans who were scolded by Lambert.

“These are the two pictures we were talking when Miranda Lambert stopped her concert and told us to sit down and not take selfies,” the woman wrote in the caption.

In the comment section, she also confirmed two of her friends walked out of the show after being lambasted.

The video has since done the rounds and fans are divided over the issue.

Some concert-goers asserted it’s rude to take pictures and not pay attention during someone’s performance, while others argued this is normal behaviour at a concert and doesn’t warrant the reaction.

“Way to embarrass and shame your loyal fans who adore you. She could’ve poked fun and posed in the selfie and then encouraged them to be in the moment after that. Not cool,” someone tweeted under the clip.

“Oh miss girl let them take a picture and sing your song, you aren’t here to give lectures,” another said.

“Great way to lose fans. Your ears don’t break when taking a picture. You should be grateful they spent the money to see you perform. Bet they won’t again,” a third added.
