Millions of TVs receive free upgrade with ten new channels – one is a right laugh for a boozy evening in with mates

MUSIC fans are set to receive a bunch of new channels on their TV and they’re all completely free.

The celeb-backed ROXi music streaming service is already available to millions as a downloadable app.

Simon Cowell, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams and Sheryl Crow have already been enlisted to curate their own music video channels on the platform.

But ten extra stations will now be available to stream directly from TV sets.

LG smart TVs are the first to receive them via LG Channels, with others set to follow soon.

The selection includes Hot Right Now with all the latest music videos from the world’s biggest stars, as well as Greatest Music Videos of All Time.

But one that could be real fun among friends for a boozy evening in is Music Video Karaoke with scrolling lyrics to sing along to.

The service’s catalogue includes some 100million music videos.

A number of internet-based channels have cropped up in recent years – and some have even decided to ditch traditional broadcasting and go digital only.

And in a matter of weeks a brand new UK TV service from the makers of Freeview that relies on broadband will launch too.

News of ROXi’s expansion will come as welcome relief to music TV fans after Channel 4 announced that its Box music channels will close this year.

However, one retro music channel brand has made a comeback on Sky this month – get a taster in the video below.

ROXi has teamed up with streamed TV specialists Frequency for its new FAST (Free Advertising Supported Television) channels.

“We believe consumers deserve the best made-for-TV music experience, which is why we’re making ROXi’s curated music video channels available to millions of FAST users for free,” said ROXi CEO Rob Lewis.
