Apple iPhone owners have been advised to update their iOS software immediately.

The security flaw targeted Apple Maps’ location tracking feature.
The usually very handy feature can be used for more nefarious purposes, however.
The bug essentially allowed third-parties to track an iPhone’s location without user’s consent or knowledge.
Apple released its iOS 16.3 software just last month.
The update brought in advanced data security for iCloud and security keys for Apple ID.
It also introduced a string of bug fixes and security updates.
But a major vulnerability seemingly went unaddressed in the release.
Apple is now rolling out a fix.
The tech company said the bug was hiding in the “logic issue” and allowed apps to “bypass Privacy preferences”.
Users can customise which apps they allow to using tracking features.
To make sure they’re protected, iPhone users should first make sure they have the most recent iOS.
The update is available now as both iOS and iPadOS for the following devices:
iPhone 8 and laterAll iPad Pro modelsiPad Air 3rd Gen and lateriPad 5th Gen and lateriPad mini 5th Gen and later
iPhone users can then double check which apps they are granting access to their live location.
This can be done by heading into Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
iPhone owners can then tweak which apps they give access to such information, and how often they can track their location.
