It’s a brand new yellow version of the iPhone 14.
Normally Apple releases top-tier iPhone models in September.
But in recent years, the tech giant has started handing out unexpected iPhone upgrades in spring too.
So if your plan is coming to an end and you’re due an upgrade, a spiffing yellow iPhone could be the perfect gadget for spring.
Apple unveiled the new model quietly through a post on its official newsroom website.
The fresh colour option is available on both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.
That’s the model launched by Apple back in September, so this is as new an upgrade as it gets.
Apple’s yellow option joins the existing roster of colours that includes Midnight, Starlight, Product Red, Blue and Purple.
“People love their iPhone and rely on it every day for all that they do, and now there’s an exciting addition to the lineup with a new yellow iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus,” said Apple’s Bob Borchers at the time of the announcement.
The yellow version of the iPhone 14 is otherwise identical to the rest of the line-up.
So you’ll still get the same 6.1-inch or 6.7-inch display, Apple A15 Bionic chipset, and powerful iOS 16 software.
Apple opened up orders for the new iPhone 14 today.
And general availability will kick off on Tuesday, March 14.
You’ll pay $799 / £849 for the iPhone 14 in yellow, or $899 / £949 for the iPhone 14 Plus.
This isn’t Apple’s first-ever yellow iPhone, however.
Apple offered a very similar yellow colour option with the iPhone 11.
And the now-ancient iPhone 5C was also available in an attractive yellow paint job.
Apple has started somewhat of a tradition of releasing new iPhone colour options in the spring – several months after its usual September launches.
In March last year, Apple introduced new green finishes for its iPhones.
And in the previous spring, a purple version of the iPhone 12 was added to the line-up.
