Mercedes previously owned by basketball legend goes on the market for eye-watering price

A MERCEDES previously owned by a basketball legend has hit the market for an eye-watering price.

The gorgeous ’90s classic is being sold by the Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles, California, but can be bought internationally.

This ’90s Mercedes is a hot commodity due to its former celebrity ownerBeverly Hills Car club Inc.

It was bought new by NBA icon Michael JordanBeverly Hills Car Club

The 1996 S600 Lorinser was the pride and joy of six-time NBA champion and two-time hall of famer Michael Jordan, widely considered one of the greatest sportsmen of all time.

Jordan bought the motor new and it was registered in his name and that of his then-wife Juanita.

The registration document bears both of their signatures on the back.

The car itself is an automatic 389 horsepower V12 and boasts heated seats, cruise control and even a car phone which, when switched on, prompts Jordan’s name to appear on the dashboard.

It was also briefly spotted in The Last Dance, ESPN’s blockbuster 10-part docuseries about the star’s final season with his beloved Chicago Bulls in 1997/98.

Inside, the car boasts the luxury typical of high-end Mercs, including the traditional plush leather and varnished wood trim.

The amazing collector’s item is currently available on Car and Classic for a whopping £107,000 (US$135,000).

Alex Manos, owner of the Beverly Hills Car Club, said: “Mr. Jordan was a magically gifted basketball player who, when you watched him, took your breath away.

“Michael Jordan’s S600 Lorinser is such an elegant vehicle that driving it will get you in touch with your inner Michael Jordan, stepping into his world and feeling his energy and power.

“I am flattered to have acquired such a historically relevant car with ultimate celebrity provenance.

“Some people have signed basketballs or sneakers or photographs of the basketball giant. But how many people do you know who own Michael Jordan’s car? This is the Holy Grail of Michael Jordan memorabilia.”

It comes after a Ferrari previously owned by both a radio star and an Olympic icon went up for sale.

Meanwhile, the number plate used by a fan-favourite Bond villain is set to fetch more than £300,000 at auction.

It is being sold for £107,000Beverly Hills Car club Inc.
