Maserati will bring EV version of supercar owned by David Beckham to the UK – and it reaches 0-60mph in two seconds

MASERATI is bringing an EV version of a supercar owned by David Beckham to the UK and it’s so powerful it’s likely to blow your socks off.

An all-electric MC20 Folgore could be seen on British roads as early as next year.

A statement from Maserati has confirmed the GranCabrio Folgore will launch this year with the MC20 Folgore coming in 2025.

The MC20’s ‘model responsible’, Luigi Sciarretta previously told Top Gear the electric MC20 would use three electric motors to send more than 700bhp to all four wheels.

However, it is not yet clear if the electric supercar will have the same setup as the GranTurismo Folgore, which produces 750bhp.

The car though promises to do 0-62mph in just two seconds and will be 100kg heavier than the petrol version.

In September last year, David Beckham, who is a Global Ambassador for the brand, was seen behind the wheel a custom-made Maserati GranTurismo in striking black.

The former Manchester United and England star was reportedly presented with the car as a thank you from the company for his work promoting them.

The 2023 GranTurismo retails at just over £133,000.

With the customisation and big-name association, Beckham’s GT is likely worth quite a bit more even than that.

Maserati also has further plans to develop its EV range in the coming years.

A new all-electric large SUV – thought to be based on Stellantis’ STLA large platform – which is expected in 2027 as well as an electric Quattroporte in 2028.

‘FULL THROTTLE’

Maserati boss Davide Grasso said: “Driven by our Modena heart, we are going full throttle to lead change on electrification, with two of our iconic models already available for purchase in their 100 per cent electric versions, and another on the way this year.

“We will offer our preferred customers the most powerful Maseratis ever, pushing the boundaries of driving pleasure to a new era.

“With our long-term strategic vision and plan, we want to make a mark in the luxury world with unique Italian manufacturing excellence, constantly pushing distinctive quality and building our future with a dedicated business model that guarantees our customers the best products that reflect the Trident’s values.”
