Martin Lewis’ MSE reveals ‘secret’ online outlet where you can get big brand items for under £20

MARTIN Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE) has revealed a “secret” to get big brand items for under £20.

In the latest newsletter, MSE shared how shoppers can make use of outlet stores such as Office Offcuts and Shoe Imperfects.

Martin Lewis’ MSE often shares ways to save money on shoppingRex

They sell ex-display shows or items with slight wear and tear at a fraction of the cost.

For example, bargain hunters can get their hands on items like Adidas trainers for just £24.80, originally £89.99.

That’s a saving of £65 – the shoes’ condition determines the price so in this case, there may have been some obvious wear and tear.

Martin’s MSE said: “There are pictures of each pair of shoes and the retailer briefly describes what the flaw is (and remember, there’s often just one in each style and only one size).

“From what we’ve seen this is often discolouration of one of the shoes, which has probably been left out in a window display, a scuff or a mark that can’t be removed.

“Prices do vary depending on how noticeable the flaw is, but typically you’ll save about 30% on the normal full price – sometimes less, sometimes more – so the discounts are comparable to most outlets.”

Bear in mind that the outlet stores won’t always have the exact product and size you’re after.

But it’s always worth checking as you could save a lot of money.

Also keep in mind that you could find something cheaper elsewhere.

So before you buy, even if it’s from an outlet store, make sure it’s the best deal.

How to save on shopping

There are many ways to save on clothes and supermarket shopping.

For example, if you know you’re after something like a pair of shoes or a jacket, look at secondhand options first.

Apps like eBay, Depop and Vinted have thousands of items from people who no longer want them.

You can try charity shops as well.

If you have to buy the item new, sign up to loyalty schemes and newsletters.

Retailers often have some sort of sale or discount code which they’ll advertise through those.

It’s also worth using comparison tools if you know you’re after a particular item that can be sold at various stores.
