Martin Lewis issues urgent 10 day warning with millions of Brits set to lose ‘100 per cent of their spending money’

MARTIN Lewis has issued an urgent 10 day warning to millions of Brits who could lose “100 per cent of their spending money”.

The consumer champion and journalist announced the stern advice on the latest episode of his ITV Money Show last night.

The Money Saving Expert said punters should “be careful” with what they buy on Black Friday.

The annual sale event, which is now a major fixture on the shopping calendar around the world, is fast approaching.

But Martin had a word of warning for those looking to splurge the cash.

Martin said: “If you were going to buy it anyway and it is half price you have saved 50 per cent.

“But if you weren’t going to buy it but do cos it’s half price you have wasted 100 per cent of your money.”

While the official date of Black Friday is November 24 this year, many major retailers have decided to kick things off earlier.

Online marketplace eBay is giving eager bargain-hunters an extra 20% off items using the code SAVENOW ahead of its official sale.

While anyone looking to upgrade their sleeping set-up can score 60% savings in the Nectar Black Friday deals, with many bundles now better than half price.

High street favourite, John Lewis, has slashed 15% off the coveted Charlotte Tilbury beauty advent calendar, now £136, which is perfect for beauty lovers to add to cart before the start of the countdown to Christmas.

Earlier on Tuesday’s show, Martin revealed to viewers the genius way you can get free cash and a Disney+ subscription before Christmas.

The Money Saving Expert said that you could net free cash in time for the festive season by making the most of certain bank-switching deals.

In general, switching usually takes seven working days and closes your old account, says Martin.

Martin also advised those hunting for Christmas presents to “abandon” their shopping baskets.

Martin says that you should log in, add items to your basket and then walk away to net discounts.

Retailers see shoppers’ activity, so many will remind you about your purchase with an email.

He says this can “often” include a discount code to motivate you to buy it.

And parents have been realising they are potentially sitting on thousands in free cash thanks to another handy Martin Lewis tip.
