Mario Balotelli hits new low as second-tier side BANISH him from squad and plan to flog him to Saudi Arabia

MARIO BALOTELLI’S career has hit a new low – with his second-tier Swiss club planning to ship him out.

And FC Sion chiefs revealed they have banished the former Manchester City star from their squad.

Italy striker Balotelli joined Sion for £2million last summer from Turkish club Adana Demirspor.

Dubbed Swiss football’s biggest-ever signing, he signed a big-money contract until 2024 and was tipped to transform Sion’s fortunes.

But instead they dropped out of the Super League after ex-Liverpool flop Balo managed just five goals all season.

He has not figured at all this season for Sion, who are second in the Challenge League.

Sporting director Barth Constantin has now said they hope to flog the 33-year-old to Saudi Arabia – where the transfer window remains open until September 20.

Constantin – who was accidentally punched in the face by Balotelli at a party – said: “There has been interest in Mario Balotelli from a Saudi club, but nothing concrete.

“The Saudi transfer window will close later than the one in Europe, so we will see what happens.

“But for the time being Mario is training at our Riddes base, separately from the first-team squad.

“In life you should always be able to find solutions to problems.  And we will find one in this case, one way or another.”

Sion president Christian Constantin strongly criticised ex-Inter Milan ace Balotelli earlier this summer.

He told Swiss magazine L’Illustre: “Mario has not repaid the confidence we placed in him.

“Neither has he rewarded us for the big financial efforts we made for him.

“This lad thinks that the rules that govern a team are made for other people rather than him.

“If his agents think it worthwhile to find him a club in a country that values money differently to ours, then maybe he will soon play football again.

“Or maybe not.  Perhaps it will be better that way.”
