Man Utd transfer blow as ‘Real Madrid make contact with Tottenham and Harry Kane to replace Karim Benzema’

REAL MADRID have made contact with Tottenham over a move for Harry Kane, claim reports in Spain.

The LaLiga giants saw their star striker Karim Benzema leave the club after 14 years on Sunday.

Real chiefs have identified Kane as their No1 target to replace the Frenchman as the club’s new No9.

And according to Marca, contact has been made between Real Madrid bosses and Tottenham.

While they also claim that Real have made initial contact with Kane’s entourage.

The 29-year-old is a favourite of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, with the Italian having reportedly demanded that he be made a priority signing.

SunSport revealed last week that Kane’s priority is to stay in England, as he eyes up Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record.

But Madrid chiefs believe that they can change his mind.

Kane has one year remaining on his Tottenham contract, and could opt to run his deal down, should he fail to get a move to Manchester United.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag, like Ancelotti, is a huge fan of the forward.

But Spurs, despite his contract situation, remain reluctant to sell their all-time leading goalscorer.

While the North Londoners are steadfast against strengthening a direct rival, there have been some suggestions that they may possess a softer stance towards selling him to a club abroad.

Real Madrid are set to sign former Stoke and Newcastle flop Joselu from Espanyol.

But the 33-year-old is merely a contender to replace the outgoing back-up forward Mariano Diaz – NOT Benzema.

Real have also been linked with Chelsea star Kai Havertz, although they would also want a more out and out No9.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are on the cusp of appointing Ange Postecoglou as their new manager.

The Aussie is reportedly set to pen a two-year deal with an option for a third at White Hart Lane.
