Man Utd suffer transfer blow as they are told to pay a club-record fee for Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite

EVERTON have slapped a huge £100million price tag on star man Jarrad Branthwaite, according to reports.

The Toffees are desperate not to lose the centre-back and despite uncertainty around their finances, they remain determined to keep him.

Everton believe the centre-back will become an England regular soon.

The £100m asking price means they are demanding a world-record fee for a defender and it would eclipse the £89m they paid for Paul Pogba as Man Utd’s most expensive ever signing.

Branthwaite joined Everton from Carlisle in 2020.

The League One side are currently entitled to ten per cent of any sell-on fee, claim the I.

Branthwaite’s contract at Goodison Park runs until 2027 and he is reportedly happy at the club.

The 21-year-old has played 17 times this season, having broken into the side this year.

He spent the last two campaigns on loan at Blackburn and PSV Eindhoven.
