United were dumped out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and are at risk of failing to qualify from their Champions League group.

And Ten Hag is now facing opposition within his own dressing room with players unhappy over the treatment of Jadon Sancho and Harry Maguire, according to The Telegraph.

Sancho, 23, has been exiled from first-team training after falling out with Ten Hag following his failure to apologise for a public statement hitting out at the United boss.

He has not played since August and a number of United players are said to be unhappy about the way he continues to be treated.

There are reportedly concerns Ten Hag’s methods are damaging squad harmony, with some bemused by his treatment of Harry Maguire.

The England star was stripped of the captaincy in the summer and dropped from Ten Hag’s preferred starting line-up in favour of Lisandro Martinez.

Former Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given claimed there is a “real divide” between United stars and Ten Hag following their 3-0 defeat to Toon.

He told Sky Sports: “It feels there is a real divide, in my opinion, between the players and the manager.

“I think there are a lot of fall outs behind the scenes, that maybe we don’t hear about.

“Varane was missing tonight and in the derby, ill, Sancho is out of the picture and Antony has had his issues.

“At the end of any managerial reign at any club, there seems to be a disbelief.

“Players have to take responsibility, that’s their job when you cross the white line.

“But it seems at the end of someone’s tether that players, I don’t want to say down tools, but there is disconnection.

“Losing the derby at the weekend and then losing here tonight, the game was over after an hour.”
