Man Utd star’s situation at loan club is ‘DOOMED’ as local media leap to his defence over repeated snubs from manager

MANCHESTER UNITED star Hannibal Mejbri is facing a “doomed” loan spell, according to reports in Spain.

Hannibal, 21, has been on loan with LaLiga side Sevilla for over a month.

However, during his time there he has only been handed a scant number of minutes by manager Quique Sanchez Flores.

The former Watford boss has played the midfielder on just three occasions off the bench in the league.

These rare appearances have seen Hannibal’s aggregate time on the pitch come to just 36 minutes, including a single minute against Valencia last weekend.

This has seen Spanish media start to question the loan transfer and the decision to not play him.

Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claimed that while Hannibal did well in the one-minute cameo he was given, his loan spell appears to be “doomed”.

Hannibal reportedly fell out with Sanchez Flores less than two weeks after arriving at the club.

A statement from the manager last month said: “After being with him, talking to him and having seen his first minutes in Girona, we are going to give him the necessary space to understand where he is, that he is at Sevilla and what it means.

“He has to know where he is and we want to see him.

“We have spoken with him and we believe that he has to have some time to learn, we wanted to give him space, time for him to see things from the outside and then he will return to the squad.

“In the end they are kids who have come and suddenly land in a huge club like Sevilla in circumstances of maximum demand. And they need a bit of location.

“And that location may be seen better from the outside than from the inside. You should take a step to understand what we want.

“Let’s see if the boy applies himself and I think that in the end he will understand perfectly what we want.”

The deal taking the Moroccan to Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium from Old Trafford included a £14.5million option to buy.

However, it now appears unlikely that clause will be triggered unless there is a dramatic turnaround in fortunes.

Hannibal had made ten appearances for Man Utd this season.

He made his Premier League debut in 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who could be set for a stunning return to management with Bayern Munich as they weigh up Thomas Tuchel‘s future.
