Man Utd poised to SCRAP Mason Mount transfer chase after £55m bid rejected and switch attention to rival Prem midfielder

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to scrap their Mason Mount chase after Chelsea rejected their third bid worth £55million, according to reports.

The Red Devils are now set to go after Brighton ace Moises Caicedo instead.

Mount, 24, is believed to be boss Erik ten Hag’s No1 midfield target this summer.

But it is looking increasingly likely that the Red Devils boss will have to make do with an alternative target.

United lodged what was expected to be their “final” offer worth £55m yesterday.

The Blues rejected it within hours, instead demanding £60m up-front with a further £7m in add-ons.

Chelsea chiefs indicated a willingness to meet with their United counterparts in order to thrash out a deal.

But it appears that the transfer is now dead in the water.

According to The Times, Red Devils bosses have now moved on to other targets – with Brighton’s Caicedo now top of their list.

Mount has just one year remaining on his Chelsea contract.

He was believed to have already agreed on personal terms with United.
