Mount, 24, has a year remaining on his Blues contract and has no intention of penning an extension.
Man United had a second bid for the England ace worth £45m plus a further £5m in add-ons turned down.
The Red Devils have now submitted a third offer understood to be worth up to £55m.
Chelsea are believed to be coveting £60m upfront with a further £7m in add-ons.
But with the Blues now willing to cash in on their two-time Player of the Year, a compromise is expected to be reached.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Man United’s latest £55m bid will be their “final” offer.
The Red Devils are keen to avoid a long drawn-out saga.
And they are claimed to have agreed a deal worth around £200,000 a week with the Chelsea star.
