Man Utd keeping tabs on Neymar after enquiry, with PSG star a big name transfer target if Sheikh Jassim takes over

MANCHESTER UNITED are keeping tabs on Neymar, French reports say.

The Brazilian superstar has scored 18 in 29 games this season but has been sidelined through an ankle injury since February.

It was a repeat problem in which saw Neymar miss chunks of PSG’s title-winning campaign the year before.

The inconsistency in PSG’s starting 11 has led to speculation over his future, with Chelsea continually linked with the forward.

But now, according to Footmercato in France, United are the latest to register an interest in ex-Barcelona winger Neymar.

It is believed Old Trafford bosses made enquiries about the attacker at the start of the season but did not make a concrete approach.

Neymar’s contract runs out in 2025 and he does have the option to extend it to 2027.

But it is claimed PSG want to part with the player sooner rather than later despite the player wanting to stay.

United could be perfectly placed to make a move for Neymar should they be taken over by Qatari investors.

Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani – a member of the Gulf state’s ruling royal family – is understood to have tabled a bid believed to be under the Glazers’ £6billion asking price.

Al Thani’s bid is reportedly worth £5bn but he is promising to wipe the club’s debt and fund upgrades for both Old Trafford and Carrington.

Representatives from the Qatari offer were later spotted outside of Old Trafford as they attended presentations by the club.

Shahzad Shahbaz, president of Nine Two Foundation, was in attendance on behalf of the Qatari bid as was Yasir Shah, managing director of Bank of America.

And several lawyers from international law firm Macfarlanes accompanied them.

The officials representing the Middle East were believed to be meeting staff members of various departments, including football, financial and commercial as well as receiving a tour of the Theatre of Dreams and the Carrington training ground.

But Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani was not in attendance himself.

His team of execs from Bank of America, who are acting for the Qatari and lawyers, instead travelled up by train from London to the North West instead.

Although the Glazers are set to sanction a THIRD round of bidding after failing to accept any offer so far.

TalkSport claims interested parties have been informed they have until the end of the month to submit revised offers.
