Man Utd get first away cup draw in three YEARS as fans say ‘the end is near’ after FA Cup third round ties revealed

FOOTBALL fans claimed “the end is near” after Manchester United finally landed an away tie in the FA Cup.

The third round draw was made this afternoon ahead of Eastleigh’s clash with Reading live on ITV.

Erik ten Hag‘s side have remarkably been drawn at home in every domestic cup tie since March 2021.

However, that Old Trafford streak is now over after they were picked out to play League One Wigan Athletic away next month.

Last season’s finalists, who were beaten by Manchester City at Wembley, will travel to the Latics on the first weekend of January.

And some supporters were in complete disbelief after seeing United drawn away.

One joked: “Man Utd away in the 3rd round. Hasn’t happened since 1752. Proper end of days stuff.”

Another said: “Away draw on a cup that can’t be right Wigan v Man Utd.”

“The end must be near,” commented another before adding: “Utd getting drawn away just doesn’t happen.”

A fellow fan asked: “What’s gone wrong? Utd getting an away tie in cup at Wigan.”

Another echoed the earlier sentiments by posting: “An away draw? The end really is near.”

While another said: “Shock, Horror, Amazing !! Man Utd actually drawn away in a cup game for once!”

United’s last away tie in the FA Cup came way back in March 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But it was not a game to remember for the Red Devils as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to eventual winners Leicester City in the quarter-final.
