Shaw has been forced off in each of United’s last two Premier League matches against Aston Villa and Luton.
Despite his withdrawal against Villa, Erik ten Hag started him again at Kenilworth Road on Sunday.
However, the Daily Mail now report that Shaw suffered a recurrence of a leg injury during the clash with the Hatters.
The 28-year-old was later seen limping heavily after leaving the pitch.
Ten Hag has been left without a recognised left-back after Shaw’s latest injury set back.
Tyrell Malacia has yet to play this season after knee surgery in the summer.
The Dutchman is still expected to be several weeks away from a first-team return.
Meanwhile, United cancelled Sergio Reguilon’s loan spell from Tottenham short in January.

Shaw is now set to be ruled out of England’s friendlies against Brazil and Belgium next month.
Meanwhile, Gareth Southgate will be sweating over his fitness for the Euros.
The Three Lions face Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia in the group stage in Germany.
Shaw has become a key player for England in recent years, scoring in the previous Euros final and starting all five matches at the 2022 World Cup.
His current campaign has been severely disrupted by injury, though, with a muscle problem ruling him out from August to November.
The former Southampton man has been limited to just 15 appearances this term as a result.
