Man Utd fans demand Ten Hag start forgotten star who is ‘much better than Sancho and Antony’ after Dortmund masterclass

MANCHESTER UNITED fans are demanding that Erik ten Hag starts Facundo Pellistri this season after impressing versus Borussia Dormund.

The Red Devils lost to the German side 3-2 in their final match of their pre-season US tour.

It was a bad night for United, with the match overshadowed by players arguing amongst themselves and Ten Hag labelling the performance “unforgivable“.

Diogo Dalot and Antony scored, but supporters believe the main positive was Pellistri.

The 21-year-old put in an energetic display as he started and played 61 minutes before being replaced by Marcus Rashford.

Some fans are eager to see the Uruguayan feature more often as he is better than his team-mates despite tough competition for a spot in the team on either flank.

One said: “Who else has noticed how this Pellistri guy is also far much better than [Jadon] Sancho?”

Another added: “[Alejandro] Garnacho or Pellistri should replace Rashford or Antony next season, in my opinion. The team should be chosen based on merit, not on a name.”

A third commented: “Pellistri has to stay, he’s fantastic and has impressed this pre-season. He’s a gem.”

Others claimed he was the club’s most in-form winger.

The youngster joined from homeland club Penarol in 2020 and has since been loaned out to Spanish side Deportivo Alaves.

He played ten times for the Man Utd first-team last season with most appearances coming off the bench.

Pellistri has been linked with another loan move away to Boca Juniors or Twente.

But a new long-term contract has reportedly been offered to him with his current deal up in 2025.
