Allardyce appeared to be the guest of honour as he was given the best seat in the house next to Manchester United’s most successful ever manager.

Could prospective new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe be preparing a sensational move for the Premier League’s number one relegation escape artist?

Allardyce watched on as United played out a 0-0 first-half with Luton Town – with Ten Hag under massive pressure to win in order to keep his job.

And fans online were saying he did not look too impressed.

One fan wrote: “Sam Allardyce is already bored AF.” alongside a picture of Allardyce letting out a tremendous yawn.

Another fan wrote: “You know it’s bad when even Sam Allardyce is yawning watching you play.”

A third fan commented: “They are bored from this Ten Hag ball” Alongside a laughing emoji.

A fourth wrote: “He is coming to United.”

While a fifth fan wrote: “Upgrade on Ten Hag.”

Sam Allardyce was most reently manager at Leeds United last season.

He came in to try and save the relegation-threatened club with four games remaining but couldn’t do enough as they fell foul of the drop.

The manager is now without a club and appears to be in semi-retirement.

Allardyce is best known for stints at Bolton, West Brom, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Everton and Sunderland.

He enjoyed an ill-fated stint as England coach where he only took charge of two games.

Still, he won both – and is therefore England’s most successful ever manager in terms of win ratio.
