Man Utd draw up three-man striker transfer shortlist including Timo Werner as Ten Hag looks for January fix

TIMO WERNER is one of three strikers to have been shortlisted by Manchester United for a quick fix in January, reports suggest.

Man Utd have struggled for goals this season, with all of their forwards misfiring with just four Premier League goals between them.

Marcus Rashford, last season’s top scorer with 30 goals, has been a shadow of the player he was last season.

New boy Rasmus Hojlund has impressed in the Champions League but has continued to draw a blank domestically, while Anthony Martial has continued to frustrate when playing.

The wingers have not added too many either, though Alejandro Garnacho has had an upturn in form recently.

The squad’s woes in front of goal have been a large cause for concern and have been a big factor in the club’s patchy form this season.

And to address this, Man Utd are set to target some more firepower in January despite boss Erik ten Hag indicating the club would not be busy in the market next month.

According to Fabrizio Romano writing in his CaughtOffside column, the Red Devils transfer chiefs have discussed the signings on ex-Chelsea star Werner, Serhou Guirassy and Donyell Malen.

A new centre-back is also on the cards for the club depending on Lisandro Martinez’s return timeline.

Meanwhile, it was reported yesterday that Martial’s contract will NOT have its extension triggered, meaning the Frenchman will leave the club at the end of the season unless he is sold in January.

Other outgoings next month could also be on the cards with the likes of Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho.

Man Utd face Bayern Munich tonight in the Champions League knowing they need to win to have a chance of progressing into the knockout stages.

Speaking to SunSport, Ally McCoist has told Man Utd to take a leaf out of Luton’s book and be aggressive against Harry Kane and co to take them out of their comfort zone.
