Watkins impressed at Villa under Unai Emery, helping them clinch a Conference League spot for next season.
He netted 16 goals in 40 games, scoring prolifically in the second half of the campaign.
Watkins, who has seven England caps, has two-years left on his deal at Aston Villa and is in talks over a new contract.
Man Utd have been scouting him and he is an option, claim The Athletic.
They also report that Tottenham are keen to keep hold of Kane this summer despite the fact they risk losing him on a free next year.
Man Utd do not want to spend their whole summer trying to convince Spurs chief Daniel Levy to let him go in case he sticks to his word about not selling.
It would take over £100million to sign Kane and Napoli’s Osimhen does not come any cheaper.
Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani and Benfica ace Goncalo Ramos also command big fees.

Erik ten Hag does not want to take risks with his striker and wants a proven goalscorer.
Man Utd are also expected to launch a fresh bid for Chelsea’s Mason Mount.
