A Scott McTominay strike and an Everton own goal handed the Red Devils a 2-0 win, with some familiar faces playing a part.
Harry Maguire, whose proposed transfer to West Ham collapsed this week, was included in the starting line-up according to Manchester Evening News.
While Anthony Martial played his first minutes since tearing his hamstring during the last Premier League game of last season against Fulham.
Van de Beek also started after playing a bit-part role during United’s pre-season but was left out of the matchday squad against Wolves – his last competitive appearance came against Bournemouth in January.
He is still expected to leave the club this summer with the Red Devils setting an asking price of around £20-25million for the midfielder.
Former club Ajax are weighing up a move for the Dutchman but are understood to be leaning towards a loan bid.
Real Sociedad are also reported to be interested in Van de Beek and have held talks with United over a transfer.
Martial is also attracting transfer interest, with West Ham among the clubs monitoring his situation.
