Man Utd are ‘leading contenders to sign £85m striker this summer but face familiar foe in Bayern Munich’

MANCHESTER UNITED are allegedly “leading contenders” to sign Randal Kolo Muani this summer – but they face a fight with an old Premier League foe for him.

The Red Devils are desperate to bolster their attack and have made Harry Kane their No.1 transfer target.

United are also keen on Kylian Mbappe and could table a potential swap deal once their Qatari takeover is completed.

But they look like they are set to be usurped by Real Madrid for the Frenchman.

Now one of the PSG star’s international team-mates appears to be the striker that Ten Hag has switched his focus to.

According to L’Equipe, United and Bayern Munich, managed by ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, are set to battle it out for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kolo Muani.

Eintracht Frankfurt value the striker at £85million and it seems very likely that he could be on the move.

The 24-year-old fired an impressive 23 goals in 46 matches for the German club following last summer’s free transfer arrival from Nantes.

He still has four years remaining on his contract but this update states he is ready for a new challenge.

And the opportunity to play in the Champions League would certainly be a hard one to resist while a big-money offer would be difficult to turn down for Frankfurt.

They are believed to be open to selling him should a suitable bid be received.

And this fresh report claims that United and Bayern are the favourites to sign him.

Kolo Muani was part of the France squad alongside Mbappe that was beaten by Argentina in the World Cup final in December.

Meanwhile, Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, 20, is another player on United’s radar.

He has scored six goals in six games for Denmark.
