Man left stunned after boss demands they give them upgraded seat during flight

A MAN was left feeling shocked after his boss demanded his upgraded seat on a flight.

He asked on Reddit if he was in the wrong after he sat in the first class seat while leaving his boss in economy.

On the social media website he explained they were travelling back home from a work conference together.

While they were on the same flight, they were not seated next to each other when he was offered the upgrade.

He wrote: “I’m a frequent traveller on this airline and use their credit card, so I often get free upgrades to first class, which meant I got upgraded on this flight and my boss did not.”

“After the flight, when we were collecting our bags, she said she wanted to talk to me about my lack of respect for protocol.”

“She thinks that because the company paid for my original ticket, and she is more senior than me, I should’ve given her the first class seat.”

But the man explained that the upgrade was awarded through his personal credit card.

He called his boss’s behaviour “absolutely insane” but he wanted to know if he was in the wrong for not offering his upgraded seat to his boss.

People on Reddit flooded into the comments offering their support to the employee.

One person wrote: “She is way out of line.”

Another added: “She demanded that you give her a personal asset, not a business one.”

While a third wrote: ” A boss can’t be pulling rank like that to begin with, and definitely not when it’s your personal spending that got you the upgrade.”

Several users thought the man should complain to his company’s HR team but he was hesitant to go down that road.

And this isn’t the first time an airline upgrade has caused conflict between passengers.

Another man sparked debate online after publicly shaming his girlfriend for accepting a free upgrade on a flight.

The abandoned boyfriend was left behind in economy class, while his partner got to make the most of her airline points in a more comfortable seat.

Meanwhile, this man divided opinion when he refused to swap seats with an eight-year-old child to let her sit next to her mum.
