But it was also revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that he has been immediately loaned out to Belgian side Lommel – who are owned by City Group.
Baptiste, 19, confirmed in May he would be leaving West Ham in search of first-team football.
He has received six caps for the England U19s but played just two games for the Hammers.
Now he is embarking on a new chapter after his 12-year stint in East London came to an end.
Reacting to the deal, one person said: “I think he will shine with City. This is a good deal.”
Another added: “Wow, that’s exciting news!.”
A third replied: “Nice future for Jamal. Congratulations .”
And a fourth responded: “Massive deal.”

Lommel play in the second tier of Belgian football having secured promotion five years ago.
And they have started the new campaign in the perfect way, winning their opening three matches.
They sit top of the Belgian First Division B, two points clear of Zulte Waregem with a game in hand.
Meanwhile, Man City also boast a 100 per cent record at the start of their season after sealing a fourth successive Premier League win on Saturday afternoon.
A second-half hat-trick from Erling Haaland ensured Pep Guardiola‘s men came away with all three points ahead of the international break.
