Man brags about lightweight bag hack that lets him take more luggage on flights for only £2

A FREQUENT flyer has revealed how he uses cheap lightweight bags whenever he travels, instead of heavy and expensive suitcases.

He said that the bags “weigh nothing” meaning he can take up his luggage allowance with more of his own items.

However, not everyone was convinced by his hack, with some telling him he should be prepared for the bags to break on one of his next journeys.

Matt Guy has gained a large following on Instagram (@im.mattguy) after he bought a house in Japan for less than £5,000.

He regularly shares updates on his renovation and shows what his life is like out in Japan.

This project requires a lot of travel to and from his new house, meaning a lot of flying.

Instead of using a normal suitcase to do that, Matt instead opts for large plastic zip up carrier bags, which he claims are strong enough to carry everything he wants, without using up weight on the suitcase itself.

He showed the bags in a video, in which he said: “This is an awesome travel hack if you want to maximise your bags.

“Does anybody else use these crappy $2AUD (£1) bags?

“These bags are the key to saving weight and not using those heavy suitcases.”

Matt admitted it takes “a little bit more power” to lug the bags around, but said he was able to take much more on his flight, without having to pay for excess luggage.

He said that the bags’ material “is super light and actually super strong” before zooming in on some Louis Vuitton suitcases in a shop window, adding: “Why buy these, when you can just use these?”

He then urged people to “pack smart” for their trips.

Some of his followers thought it was a good idea, with one saying: “Omg I need to try this haha.”

Another wrote: “Yes, I also used these every time I travel.”

A third added: “These are perfect if you are wanting to maximise weight.”

However, others weren’t as convinced, with plenty warning Matt that things would go wrong for him eventually.

One said: “Sooner or later one’s going to burst open in the transit process and its not going to seem like such a clever idea.”

Another advised: “That’s going to burst open and jam the airport machinery.”

Similar bags can be picked up from Amazon for around £2.20, with a pack of five costing £10.99.

The bags have an overall score of 4/5 from more than 5,000 reviews, with plenty of people praising their strength.

One reviewer wrote: “They’re so durable and convenient.”

Another said: “The bags are big, strong, and having the handles really helps.”

Meanwhile, budget travellers swear by this £12 hand luggage bag.

And people have been warned about using sneaky Tiktok hacks to get more into their bags.
