Maluma is celebrating the women of Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. In honor of Women’s Month and the release of his new song “La Reina,” the 29-year-old superstar paid a special visit to the Florida hospital on March 9 to surprise cancer patients, survivors, and women physicians. Dr. Jane Mendez, chief of breast surgery with Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, said in a press release, “As a breast cancer surgeon, it brings me great joy to see our amazing patients, female physicians, and survivors be honored and recognized in such a special way. After all, we all are ‘reinas.'”
Maluma also highlighted the sweet occasion on his Instagram, captioning a video from the visit, “Que cantidad de emociones he vivido hoy!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻Conocer a tantas mujeres, con tantas historias lo es todo para mi! Como lo he dicho hoy TODAS SON UNAS REINAS 👑👑👑❤️❤️❤️ Gracias @baptisthealthsf @baptisthealthcancercare,” which translates to, “I’ve lived so many emotions today!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻Meeting so many women, with so many stories is everything to me! As I’ve said today, THEY ARE ALL QUEENS 👑👑👑❤️❤️❤️ Thank you @baptisthealthsf @baptisthealthcancercare.” Baptist Health shared a similar video on its Instagram page, saying, “When Maluma visits las reinas…👑.”
Maluma’s “La Reina” is the second single from his upcoming “Don Juan” album, following his “La Fórmula” collaboration with Marc Anthony. The song and the accompanying music video spotlight the beauty of Colombian women from all walks of life, including Silvia Julio, a mother and survivor of a chemical-agent attack; Sara Llanos García, a woman with Down syndrome; and Yaneth Rodríguez Jiménez, who shows the mastectomy scars on her chest in the visual. “Este es mi regalo para ustedes!” Maluma captioned a clip from the video, which translates to, “This is my gift to you all!”
