Manufacturers have launched a brand-new model inspired by the Fiat 600e.

In new snaps launched by the Italian car-maker Stellantis show an improved look of the standard model.

The new model has a motorsport-inspired design – including an eye-catching colour in “Hypnotic Purple”.

The skirt plates attached to each bumper section have been darkened.

And it has been fitted with a new protruding rear wing with more Abarth logos than you can count.

Jumping behind the wheel, the upgraded 600e boasts bigger bumpers and 20-inch alloy wheels with a larger rear spoiler.

The firm claimed the new model has been “designed to leave Abarth fans speechless” – and it will use a 237bhp electric powertrain.

Although the full details remain a mystery, car experts at Car Dealer believe it could be the firm’s most powerful car yet.

The sporty motor comes with over 70bhp more than the Fiat version.

Avid motorists will notice other changes – including a mechanical limited-slip differential to boost handling and traction.

And newly fitted brakes and performance tyres.

Abarth said the 600e is still “undergoing final tests” and will be making its public debut in Milan when the firm begins filming a commercial for the new electric crossover.

Sport cars enthusiasts will be able to snap up the 600e this summer in the UK.

Manufacturers will offer the car in a special edition Scorpionissima launch.

But drivers are urged to run to get their hands on the new EV as the offering will be limited to 1,949 units – which is the number representing the year Abarth was founded.

The 600e will join the electric Abarth 500e and petrol 595 and 695 models.

It comes as the firm turned the dinky Fiat 500s into loud and proud hot hatches for decades.

The new Abarth 500e is its latest effort, but the angry little turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine Abarth has become known for is gone.

That’s because the new 500e is now based on Fiat’s fully-electric city car.

In the petrol engine’s place is a 42kWh battery and a single electric motor at the front that produces 151hp.
