German brand Audi confirmed in February is scrapping the TT in 2024.
The sports motor was popular among motorists thanks to its turbocharged 2.0-litre engine and a Quattro all-wheel drive.
But after more than two decades of production and three generations, the last Tourist Trophy has hit the road from the Audi’s Györ plant in Hungary.
The company took to its Instagram account to share their goodbyes.
On an Instagram post they said: “With its series debut in 1998, the Audi TT made design history.
“Now, after 25 years, the last TT Coupé has rolled off the assembly line in Györ, Hungary.”
The car series first debuted in 1998 and there were a total of 662,762 vehicles launched.
However, as the motors market shifted towards EVs and SUVs, sales of the model were sent into freefall.
Hundreds of Audi fans mourning the loss took to the comment section to share their devastation.
One said: “Sad that my favorite brand is slowly saying goodbye.” Another added: “Too bad. my absolute dream car.”
Someone said: “Really sad that you are stopping production for these beautiful cars.”
At the beginning of this year, the brand announced the Final Edition TT to replace the old model.
It retails at £46,525 and has received excellent reviews, with The Sun’s own Rob Gill saying: “I think I might have to start a campaign. SAVE THE TT!”
The model was named for the world-famous Isle of Man TT motorcycle race.
Audi used the name to honour the success of its predecessor company NSU Motorenwerke in the early 20th Centruy, including a win in 1938.
It comes as Aston Martin is reportedly set to discontinue a popular model and replace it with a “hardcore” supercar.
The motor is expected to be radically reinvented as the brand seeks to offer a more “extreme” driving experience.
According to a report from Autocar, Aston Martin will transform the DBS into a “bonafide” V12 supercar.
Meanwhile, customers were rushing to buy a well-known hybrid on the resale market well after it was pulled from the manufacturer’s lineup.
Figures from eBay Motors Group show that the Toyota Prius+ was hot property among second-hand buyers over the last 30 days.
