Major brand to release hypercar that’s the ‘closest thing to an F1 car’ you can drive on the road… but it’ll cost £5m

A MAJOR car brand is set to release a brand new hypecar that will be inspired by a real F1 motor.

The beautiful new car has been specially designed to push the design and technical boundaries far beyond what has ever been seen on the track before – but it will set you back a whopping £5m.

Described as “the purest execution of an F1-inspired hypercar”, the Red Bull RB17 is the latest motor being produced by the legendary F1 constructors.

The RB17 will come with a powerful V10 engine to reflect the V10 beasts of F1 cars from the late 1990s.

The RB17 is the first ever track-only car made by Red Bull Racing and is being developed under the Red Bull Advanced Technologies unit at their Milton Keynes base.

Newey has focused purely on the aerodynamics of the car to make it as lifelike to an F1 car as possible rather than be forced to stick within road car regulations.

The car will be lightweight but also capable of producing well over 1,100bhp.

The petrol engine is also set to be paired with a 200bhp electric motor to help increase the power with it also being able to hit revs of up to an astonishing 15,000rpm.

The car is the brainchild of iconic F1 engineer Adrian Newey – the man widely regarded as Red Bull’s difference maker in their record breaking F1 season last year.

Newey said: “The RB17 distils everything we know about creating championship-winning Formula One cars into a package that delivers extreme levels of performance in a two-seat track car.

“Driven by our passion for performance at every level, the RB17 pushes design and technical boundaries far beyond what has been previously available to enthusiasts and collectors.”

It was first announced back in July 2022, and is expected to start production in 2025.

The car will also have “the most advanced ground effect package available in a series production car”, according to the company.

Using a blown diffuser – something that helped Sebastian Vettel dominate in a Red Bull – and seriously advanced active suspension, the car will generate a whole load of grip.

The insane aerodynamics will also provide the RB17’s own weight at 120mph in downforce.

However, only 50 RB17s will ever be made with them all in left-hand drive.

Buyers will be given complete access to a state-of-the-art package tailored to the buyer.

Full support from the Red Bull factory also comes within the £5m package including servicing and maintenance of the car.

As well as complete use of the team’s expert simulators and on-track training and experiences.

Red Bull has currently just released an official sketch so far of the RB17 that just shows the swooping aerodynamic lines of the motor and a cockpit for two covered by a racing canopy.

CEO of Red Bull Racing and Team Principal Christian Horner said: “The RB17 marks an important milestone in the evolution of Red Bull Advanced Technologies, now fully capable of creating and manufacturing a series production car at our Red Bull Technology Campus.

“The RB17 marks the first time that a car wearing the Red Bull brand has been available to collectors.”
