Luke Shaw reveals he HAS been tapping up Harry Kane and Declan Rice to join Man Utd in stunning double transfer

LUKE SHAW has been trying to tap up Harry Kane and Declan Rice to join Manchester United this summer.

The England squad are using the club’s Carrington HQ ahead of Monday’s Old Trafford Euros qualifier with North Macedonia.

And Shaw admitted he wants his Three Lions team-mates to join him after posting Instagram pictures suggesting he was giving the pair a VIP tour of the facilities.

Red Devils full-back Shaw declared: “I’d love them to join United, I am not going to lie. I am telling them how good Manchester United is because I know their qualities.

“They are both world-class players who would improve our team massively.

“They have been here the last couple of days and, hopefully, they like it and can get used to it!”

Shaw’s undercover transfer efforts have not gone unnoticed by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate, who is aware many of his squad are being linked with summer transfers.

Southgate smiled and said: “I haven’t felt the need to say anything but the players are tapping each other up on the quiet, so I can’t do anything about that.”

United gaffer Erik ten Hag is a massive fan of Tottenham’s record 280-goal scorer Kane, 29, but would need a mega offer to persuade Spurs to sell.

West Ham’s £110million-rated midfield star Rice, 24, is also on United’s radar even though he has set his heart on Arsenal.

Shaw added: “I don’t know what is going on at their clubs but if it was down to me, I would take them in a heartbeat.

“It is not normally discussed but because of the time of the season, there is a lot of talk… a lot of banter.”

Shaw, 27, has spent the last nine years at Old Trafford and is sure they are back on track after a tricky few years.

He said: “It’s only a matter of time until we’re challenging for the big trophies.”

Shaw did admit it was tough taking his pal Harry Maguire’s place.

But the £85million centre-half, 30, eventually understood Ten Hag’s reasons for picking a left-back ahead of him.

Shaw said: “It was tough but I’m close with Harry so there was no awkwardness. He understood the manager does like a left-footed centre-back.”

Another man being tried in a new position is Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Liverpool ace has played most of his career at right-back but has been moved into midfield for both club and country.

He impressed in Friday’s 4-0 win over Malta and Southgate added: “I won’t hesitate to play him there again. He did everything we hoped he would do.”
