In the video David, from Australia, demonstrated the handy hack on his £44,000 Tesla Model Y.

On the car’s infotainment touchscreen, drivers can use the extensive settings menu to customise just about every aspect of their experience.

David explained: “Teslas also make a variety of noises, chimes and charms.

“If you don’t like them you can simply click on the little car icon down the bottom [of the screen].

“Select ‘safety’, scroll all the way down to the bottom and tap ‘Joe Mode’.

“It reduces the volume of your car’s chimes for a quieter and more child-friendly experience”.

Amazingly, he also revealed that the mode came about because a customer called Joe tweeted at Tesla boss Elon Musk to request the change.

In a heartwarming touch, the notice that pops up when you select the mode reads: “The quieter chimes continue to alert the driver effectively and minimise disruption to passengers in the rear seats (e.g. Joe’s kids).”

David also ran through a number of other handy Model Y features.

Top 10 Model Y features

1. Siri connection via an app

2. Adjustable boot height

3. Hidden charger release mechanism in the boot

4. Valet Mode

5. Free premium connectivity via hotspot

6. Apple/Google Maps sharing

7. Parking break in settings

8. Speed adjustment on steering wheel during cruise control

These include being able to use Siri to open your boot and “frunk” (front trunk) via an app and a helpful blind spot camera which can be moved around the screen.

It even has a valet mode, which limits the vehicle’s performance and locks it behind a four-digit pin for when you hand your car over to someone else, like at valet parking.

It comes after another major EV brand released the first ever motor without a rear window in the UK.
