Former Australian Olympic swimmer Lisa Curry has shared an update on her health this morning after a photo sparked concern among fans.
The 61-year-old author and mogul was pictured using crutches on Instagram.
Now she’s told followers she’d been suffering from a prolonged injury, which saw her undergo a hip replacement and spend time in intensive care due to complications.

“So … about the crutches!!”, Curry’s lengthy message, within which she also spoke about her son Jett Kenny’s recent injury, began.
“[Four] weeks ago I had a hip replacement. Spent a couple of nights in ICU with low blood pressure. Lost my appetite, lost my taste for coffee even!! 🐾🐾,” Curry continued.
Curry revealed that in January, while dog sledding in the Yukon in Canada, she fell on her hip and fractured it.

“So it’s been sore all year, (thinking it was muscular), until I could barely walk, so had a CT scan and it showed fractured bones floating between the ball and socket joint,” Curry explained.
“I couldn’t have it operated on before our European and USA tours so just lived on painkillers for that 10 week trip.”

Curry continued: “Each day it’s getting better and I’m now able to exercise and swim again so I’m happy about that !!”
“Learning how to walk without a limp, doing simple tasks again,” Curry wrote. “But geez, you don’t realise how many things you take for granted – putting a sock or undies on is like dressing a wriggly wet octopus !! So exhausting 😂”.
Curry also explained that Kenny, 29, had undergone shoulder surgery last week, which is why his arm was in a sling in the photo she shared on October 19.
She also thanked her husband, Mark Andrew Tabone, 57, for “putting up with me, cooking, cleaning and picking up after me for the last couple of weeks”, as well as her daughter, Morgan Kenny, 32, for driving her around “so [she] could still work”.
