Silverstone Auctions, which is handling the sale, claims that this five-owner example remains in immaculate condition.

The ‘Cossie’ is finished in Diamond White – and the dealer certificate shows that it was originally registered to the Ford Motor Co. of Brentwood by RS Dealer Gates Ford of Essex.

The seller bought the RS back in 2016, and it has been cosseted and cared for in his private collection ever since.

This car includes a history file which contains the owner’s timeline showing that it was sold to its first owner – who kept it until March 1994.

Silverstone Auctions explained: “At its introduction in 1982, Sierra’s revolutionary new shape proved a touch more divisive than Ford had anticipated, and some serious marketing became a priority.

“So it was the obvious choice to become the platform for Ford’s new competition aspirations in conjunction with Cosworth.

” It fitted the brief well as it was rear-wheel drive, had good aerodynamics, albeit being prone to lift at high speeds and was available as a three-door.”

This five-owner RS Cosworth comes with all the correct documentation, an impressive history file and the kudos of its Ford Motor Company heritage.

With the auction finishing on the 26th of August, there’s plenty of time to meet the reserve price, while interest from fast Ford fans could see the final price go much higher.

This comes after drivers were left stunned after realising that there’s a hidden feature in their car boot.
