LE Mans racing champion Oliver Webb has been fined £1,920 after smashing his Range Rover into a Tesla on the motorway.
The professional driver was caught on camera tailgating a Tesla driven by 60-year-old Martin Varley in the fast lane of the M1.

Webb, 32, was then seen in footage swinging out to “undertake” him in the middle lane.
And the shocking video showed the black Range Rover then pulling directly in front of dad-of-three Martin’s car.
The former champ’s motor hit the nearside wing of the Tesla before knocking it into the barrier on the central reservation of the M1 at Flore, Northamptonshire.
Mr Varley claims he smashed into the barrier three times before coming to a stop with his car seriously damaged as Webb sped away in front of him.
The horrific incident was videoed by the hi-tech cameras on the Tesla which enabled Mr Varley to record the number plate on July 31 last year.
As a result, Webb’s insurers were forced to pay the £23,000 bill for repairs to the damaged wings, panels and wheels of the Tesla.
The racing driver, known as Oli Webb, was convicted of driving without due care and attention by Wellingborough magistrates on February 27 this year.
Court records reported by MailOnline reveal he was fined £1,920, given six penalty points on his licence and ordered to pay court costs of £110 and a £768 victim surcharge.
Mr Varley told MailOnline: “I was in the outside lane behind another car when I saw this Range Rover approaching close to me in my rear view mirror.
“It was obvious he wanted me to get out of the way, but I couldn’t speed up because of a car in front of me and could not pull over as there was a Volvo undertaking me on my inside.
“All of a sudden, the Range Rover driver put his foot down to undertake me as well, but he cut directly in front of me.
“It was like a racing driver move and he clipped my nearside wing, leaving a dent and covering it with black paint from his car.
“I wasn’t able to do anything, and I was nudged into the barrier. My car swung in and out, and hit the barrier three times. It was absolutely terrifying.”
The shaken dad added that his Tesla had “kept trying to correct the steering” before the motor stopped itself.
He continued: “Luckily the drivers behind me saw what was happening and put on their hazard lights as they slowed down, forming a kind of rolling road block.
“It enabled me to get to pull over the left and limp slowly off the motorway to a services station where I could get my car recovered.
“If I had been in the middle lane, the impact could have sent my car spinning. The consequences could have been horrific.
“In my view what happened, was clearly a case of road rage. It was clearly a very unsafe piece of driving.”
He was left feeling “quite sore and numb” as a courtesy driver sent by his insurance company was taking him back to his home in north London.
Doctors ordered him to spend four weeks resting and not flying his helicopter or driving as a precaution.
Mr Varley said he initially informed Northamptonshire Police of the collision soon after it happened and was told to fill out a form.
He added: “I was not over-impressed with the police and I don’t they believe they treated it as seriously as they could have done.
“Eventually they told me that they were taking him to court, but it was only for driving without due care and attention rather than dangerous driving.
“I got another letter a couple of days ago, telling me that he had been fined and given six points.”
Webb has been contacted for comment by The Sun.
A Northamptonshire Police spokesperson said: “The file and footage was reviewed by an experienced decision maker and the case did not fall into the CPS remit/guidelines for dangerous driving, therefore the lesser offence of driving without due care and attention was laid for court.”
It comes as Webb was ordered to undertake a speed awareness course back in 2019 after breaching the speed limit by 2pmh in his £200k Aston Martin.
