Lauryn Hill cancels another show on her anniversary tour due to health issue: ‘This isn’t safe or sustainable’

Lauryn Hill has postponed another show on her anniversary tour, this time in Texas, due to an ongoing health issue.

The American rapper and singer, 48, known as the frontwoman of The Fugees, revealed she is suffering from a “serious case of vocal strain/injury” and can “barely talk, let alone sing or rap”.

Hill said she is preparing to “heal and rest” on doctor’s orders so she can carry on with her The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 25th Anniversary Tour.

“As you may know, I’ve been doing my best to overcome a serious case of vocal strain/injury over the past week or so,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter, hours before she was set to take to the stage on Tuesday.

“I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable. I woke up this morning hoping to have enough voice to get through tonight, but I can barely talk let alone sing or rap.”

Hill added: “I need to heal and rest the voice in order to continue the tour. For these reasons, sadly, my doctors have advised me to postpone tonight’s show. Much love to all of you for your support, and I look forward to coming back to Texas soon.”

Last week, she cancelled a show in Philadelphia to “rest her voice”.

“It is with disappointment that I am writing this note to you. On the advice of my physicians, I have no choice but to postpone the show tomorrow. I need to rest my voice to prevent any more serious strain or damage to my vocal cords,” she said in a statement shared on her social media accounts before her show on October 23.

She added in her post: “The start of this tour has been incredible. What an amazing experience to celebrate this anniversary with all of my family, my friends and all of you.”

She added: “I look forward to giving you the show you deserve with a fully recovered and healthy voice.”

In coming weeks, she is set to perform shows in Los Angeles, Ontario, and Nashville.

Her studio album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill dropped 25 years ago in 1998.

It featured hits including Lost Ones.

The Grammy Award winner is the frontwoman of The Fugees, featuring Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel.

The group are known for hits including Killing Me Softly and Ready or Not.
