THE largest casino resort of its kind in Europe has opened its doors to guests this summer.

The new development in Cyprus has a casino, sporting facilities, a family adventure park, the island’s largest pool complex, an outdoor amphitheatre, eight restaurants and of course plenty of bars.

The Times say the new resort brings “Las Vegas glitz” to the island nation.

Lawrence Ho, boss of Melco Resorts and Entertainment, said: “Today marks the start of the most exciting chapter.

“City of Dreams Mediterranean gives Cyprus a new story to tell by blending local culture, hospitality and beauty with a new form of entertainment and experience”.

The City of Dreams is Europe’s first integrated casino resort, which Cyprus hopes will “usher in a new era for tourism”.

It aims to make the country a year-round premium tourism destination, by offering “world-class entertainment”.

The resort’s website claims it is “perfectly set on an orange grove, yet very close to all the main spots of the city of Limassol”.

It also states that there are “500 5-star rooms and suites” as well as “award-winning dining options, a spa sister to the best in the world, and Europe’s grandest casino”.

Other boasts include “popular guest DJs” who are promised to “set the mood and join an endless party all night or all day long”.

“Adrenaline-high experiences” are also assured, with the “Waverider and the Adventure Park”.

Grant Johnson, Property Manager of the City of Dreams Mediterranean, told the Cyprus Mail: “This tremendous achievement is a testament to the incredible cooperation and support we have received here in Cyprus.

“This resort, the largest of its kind in Europe, is, like everything we do, the product of partnership.

“The combination of our brand, our expertise in entertainment, the thrill of our gaming, and the quality of our guest experience, hand in hand with Cyprus culture and hospitality, is an extremely powerful mix.”

A night in the City of Dreams starts from €405 (£347) for two, although more expensive options are also available.

That price includes a night in the resort as well as breakfast the next morning.

A stay in the Presidential Suite will set visitors back at least €14,905 (£12,766).

For that, guests get a rooftop suite that spans over two levels with two “ample bedrooms, sleek marble bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes”.

It also has its own fitness room and an open-plan social dining space, “perfect for generously hosting friends and family”.

It also offers views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Limassol skyline.

Meanwhile, this new Spanish resort has €3 pints and a huge infinity pool – and flights are just £12.99.

And a new £250m holiday park is opening in the UK with activity zones and forest lodges.
