Drinking beer out of a shoe was undoubtedly the last thing Kylie Minogue expected to do at the Brit Awards, but here we are.
The music icon has somewhat reluctantly participated in the Aussie ritual of a shoey during the awards ceremony in London.
Host Roman Kemp declared it would be “amiss” of him not to “not go with an Aussie tradition” as he interviewed Minogue at her table.

“So will Kylie Minogue do a shoey with me at the Brits? If I ask for your shoe, can I do that?” Kemp asked as the singer laughed, seemingly resigned to the inevitable.
“Do I do this?” she asked the crowd, receiving a cheer in response.
Kemp reached under the table and produced a pair of black high heels; we’re not entirely sure if they had been on Minogue’s feet or were a stunt pair that just happened to be there.

”By the way, I have never… I don’t know…” she stammered as the beer was ceremoniously poured in.
Despite the hesitation Our Kylie was a good sport, clinking stilettos with Kemp before emptying it in one go.
The Brit Awards’ official Twitter account summed up what we’re all thinking: “Kylie Minogue doing a shoey wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card.”
Earlier, Kemp complimented Minogue for “the best flex [he’s] ever seen from an artist” at the ceremony: having her own wine brand served at the event.
“Having your own magnum, that’s got your name on it, already there,” he said, pointing to the drinks bucket in the middle of the table.
”You’re all welcome to a glass,” Minogue told the audience.

It’s been a big night for the Aussie music star.
Minogue was presented with the Brits Global Icon award, honouring her years of success in the industry.
Accepting her colourful statuette from presenter Dua Lipa, she admitted she couldn’t plan what she was going to say ahead of time.
“It’s been a lifetime, 36 years and counting, of experiences together,” she told the audience, before thanking her team and collaborators.
“There’s a part of me that’s still the 14-year-old girl in her room dreaming of making music and being in this industry.”
