Kim Kardashian uses minimalist home decor to create ‘order and efficiency’ in her life, interior designer reveals

KIM Kardashian’s minimalist decor inside her Hidden Hills mansion will help shut out her noisy celebrity lifestyle, an interior designer has claimed.

And she thinks the reality star’s choice of décor will have an orderly and cleansing impact on her young family.

Interior designer Michele Pelafas told The U.S. Sun: “Kim’s home is a great example of a calming home and while minimalism isn’t for everyone, it does create a sense of order and efficiency to strengthen and purify.

“This can be good for the children and given the family’s noisy celebrity lifestyle.

“The décor here transcends style to a place of hope, peace, and wellness and is all about prioritizing the essential and, in my opinion, finding peace and harmony.

“To make any minimal space livable it should celebrate nature, art, wellness, and authenticity so when you strip away the unnecessary, only then can you see the beauty which is how calm is created.”

Kim Kardashian and her former husband Kanye West shelled out a whopping $23 million on the mansion in 2014, soon after which they began to renovate it.

The entire project took several years to complete while they worked alongside the architect Axel Vervoordt.

Today, following her divorce settlement with Kanye, Kim shares her lavish sprawling home in the gated Hidden Hills community with her four children North, Saint, Psalm, and Chicago.

Previously, the reality TV star had described her decor choice as minimal monastery, and this week went on to post images of the inside of her home on her Instagram feed and said: “Things at home that make me happy.”

And while the mom of four seems completely at home in her plush designer pad, some of her fans seemed to think differently and criticized her choices.

“I felt cold looking at this,” one of her Instagram followers wrote, while another said that the mansion looked like: “such a depressing looking house”.

Then one of her followers added: “Your house reminds me of a morgue .”

“I had a positive response to the design and furniture in the space,” adds interior design house Founder Michele.

“It isn’t empty but purposeful in its own way supporting and honoring the family, both adults and children.

“While the design is minimal here, the softness of the furniture, the warmth of the white, the transparency with nature, and the grounding textures all create beautiful moments.

“When we design beauty and wellness spaces, for example, we use design principals and strategies to create positive emotions that emphasize fulfillment, happiness, and meaning.

“I believe in creating joyful, inspirational, and confident environments and think that this is a healthy approach to home design for the whole family here.

“With children, there’s no reason to sacrifice style because there are solutions these days that are both luxurious and practical for the home.

While her master bedroom is also fairly stark with just a large double bed, it’s paired with neutral, muted bedding and somber, relaxing lighting.

The house, which is said to be worth around $60 million, is set in secluded and lush green surroundings near the Santa Monica Mountains.

The property also has a basketball court and a private swimming pool.

“I personally use the same high-performance fabrics at home that we use in luxury spa and beauty environments and love how easy these are to maintain.

“This works especially with children and pets in the house, and they can still look fabulous.

“In this particular home, which is a personal expression of their style and tastes, I wouldn’t interfere with the integrity of the design, since it’s just like a charming estate from centuries long ago and in homes of significance, design is honored.

“For celebrities, they can benefit from a secluded home sanctuary to offset a public noisy lifestyle, and if their home design is purposeful, personal, and simplified, it can lead to a sense of calm, order, and serenity.”
