Kevin De Bruyne on crutches as he opens up on ‘really big blow’ after undergoing surgery on latest hamstring injury

KEVIN DE BRUYNE has revealed that his latest injury was a “big blow” to him “physically and mentally”.

The Manchester City star could be out for the rest of the year after injuring his hamstring against Burnley.

De Bruyne, 32, hobbled off the pitch at Turf Moor in the Premier League opener and has since undergone surgery.

The Belgian midfielder flew to Antwerp for the procedure and has now given an update to fans.

Taking to Instagram, De Bruyne posted two pictures of himself while in crutches and bandaging on his leg.

He wrote: “The news after the Burnley game was a really big blow for me physically and mentally.

“Now the surgery is done, I’m ready to heal my body and get back to work soon.

“Thank you all for the support.”

And De Bruyne received plenty of support from his fellow footballing stars.

Former Roma and Belgium international Radja Nainggolan commented: “Stay strong buddy.”

Ex-Man City star Pablo Zabaleta wrote: “Get well soon, Kevin .”

Gerard Deulofeu said: “We gonna miss your football.”

Man City had been linked with West Ham star Lucas Paqueta as a replacement however a move appears to be unlikely.

City had submitted a £70million bid but the deal collapsed due to “confidential” reasons.

And the Daily Mail have claimed the 25-year-old is the subject of an investigation over alleged breaches of football gambling rules, though specifics are yet to come to light.
