Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell kept the Nickelodeon nostalgia coming at the People’s Choice Awards on Dec. 6. For the first time in 25 years, the comedy duo reunited on the red carpet just hours before Thompson was set to host the award show. The last time the former “All That” stars were on the red carpet together was at the “Good Burger” premiere in 1997 when they were both in their late teens.
As the pair posed together on the red carpet, they looked like they hadn’t missed a beat, falling right back into their classic “Kenan & Kel” vibes. Between moments of hyping each other up and snapping selfies with fans, the stars also took a moment to show off their coordinated outfits. Thompson arrived in a midnight-blue velvet suit, while Mitchell complemented the “Saturday Night Live” star’s ensemble in his own satin suit and navy button-up.
Now that “Good Burger 2” is on the way and expected to begin filming soon, Thompson and Mitchell have been planning surprise reunions left and right. Most recently, the duo appeared in a “Kenan & Kel”-inspired sketch together featuring the night’s host, Keke Palmer. In September, the friends truly took the crowd by surprise when they appeared on stage together at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, their first major reunion since the ’90s.
In the years since they led their own sketch-comedy show together on Nickelodeon, the stars’ careers have seen massive success. Thompson – a father of two – earned the title of longest running “SNL” cast member after 20 seasons. Meanwhile, Mitchell – a father of four – appeared on season 28 of “Dancing With the Stars” and has pursued a career as an author and musician.
