Katharine McPhee’s nanny fatally run over by elderly woman

A woman working as a nanny for singer Katharine McPhee and her husband, David Foster, reportedly died after being run over by a car.

Confirmation of the cause of death comes after the incident on August 9, when an elderly driver is believed to have rammed her car into a San Fernando Valley car dealership and colliding with several people inside the building, as per a LAPD press release.

Speaking to TMZ, a source identified McPhee’s nanny Yadira Calito, 55, as the person struck and killed by the 84-year-old driver of a Toyota RAV4 that crashed into a reception area.

ET Online later confirmed the news, however the LAPD have yet to confirm the woman’s identity.

Although it was unclear what caused her to crash through the business, a police investigator at the scene said the driver mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

The woman, presumed to be Calito, was reportedly pinned under the vehicle and dragged for 20 feet before being rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

Two other employees were also hit and injured at the scene but both are expected to make full recoveries. The driver has not yet been arrested in relation to the collision, as per the LAPD.

The tragic news comes days after McPhee announced she was pulling out of her remaining David Foster & Friends tour dates in Asia after a “horrible family tragedy”.

“Dearest Jakarta fans, it’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final two shows of our Asia run,” the 39-year-old singer wrote in a statement on Instagram.

“David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us need to get back home to our family,” she continued before issuing an apology to concertgoers.

“Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all,” McPhee concluded. “Love Katharine.”
