Jorginho could make shock transfer to Europa Conference League as Arsenal ‘hold late talks over move’

ARSENAL star Jorginho is in line for a shock transfer to Fenerbahce, reports suggest.

Jorginho, 31, joined the Gunners in January and has become a useful asset in Mikel Arteta‘s squad.

However, he may end up calling time on his career at the Emirates.

This is because Turkish giants Fenerbahce are looking at signing him, with sources close to the Italian claiming he is unhappy with his current playing time.

According to Ekrem Konur on Football Whispers, the Europa Conference League outfit are preparing to offer Jorginho an escape route.

While England had its transfer deadline day last Friday, the Turkish transfer window remains open until September 15.

And Fenerbahce – who have already signed Fred from Manchester United over the summer – are now preparing another Premier League raid.

The report suggests they are in negotiations with Arsenal over a deal worth between £6million and £6.8m.

Jorginho is said to have been offered a two-year contract with an option for a further year.

Personal terms will reportedly not be an issue either, with Fenerbahce’s offer seeing Jorginho earn a salary of £3.4m.

However, Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos has rubbished talk of a move.

Speaking with TuttoMercatoWeb, Santos declared: “Jorginho is focused on Arsenal, therefore on the Premier League and the Champions League. He will not go to Fenerbahce.”

Despite Arsenal signing Declan Rice and Fabio Vieira impressing off the bench so far this season, the departure of the ex-Chelsea star would leave Arteta short on midfield numbers.

A thin squad compared to Manchester City proved detrimental towards their chances of winning the Premier League last season.

And with a testing campaign in the Champions League following their return to the competition, Arsenal will likely need to use the full depth of their squad.
