John Fury urged son Tommy to walk away from Jake Paul fight before Love Island star sealed grudge bout

TOMMY FURY ignored pleas from his dad to walk away from Jake Paul fight talks.

The celebrity boxing rivals are finally set to fight, on February 26 in Saudi Arabia, after Tommy twice pulled out before due to injury and visa issues.

It has kept the rivalry brewing for nearly two years, leaving their score still unsettled.

So Tommy, 23, was willing to do whatever it took to finally meet Paul, 26, in the ring, even if it meant going against his dad’s advice.

John told FreeBets.com: “What it was, I said let’s move on from it because I believed it was a 50-50 thing with a fair split.

“But Tommy said to me, ‘Dad I want to fight this man, it is not about the money I have had enough of him’.

“‘As long as they pay me somewhere near what is acceptable, let’s get this deal done’.

“We have probably been well underpaid, the money is one thing but if he knocks Jake spark out the world is his oyster.

“Tommy will be a very popular man come the 26th of February, I can guarantee that.”

Tommy’s dad and champion brother Tyson, 34, have warned he must vacate their famous fighting surname and RETIRE in defeat to Paul.

And John has even claimed anything less than a knockout would be a disappointment.

He said: “It will, absolutely will.

“We’ve not trained for points because we know we’re away from home, he’s probably co-promoting it somewhere.

“He’s got to be carried out that ring, he ‘s got to be stopped, that’s what we’re trained to do, stop him and that’s what he’s getting stopped.

“Goldilocks is getting stopped. The big bad wolf’s coming to get him.”
