Jodie Turner-Smith breaks silence on divorce from Dawson’s Creek star Joshua Jackson: ‘I don’t think it’s a failure’

Actress Jodie Turner-Smith has broken her silence on her divorce from Dawson’s Creek alum Joshua Jackson.

British-born Turner-Smith, 37, and ex-husband Jackson, 45, called it quits in October 2023 after four years of marriage.

The Queen & Slim actress spoke about the pair’s breakup four months after it went public in an interview with The Sunday Times.

“Sometimes things we really want to work just don’t end up working,” she told the publication.

“And that’s OK. The most important thing is that you choose what’s healthiest for you and your family and definitely your children.”

Turner-Smith went on to shed some light on why they broke up and how the split impacted her.

She also hinted the marriage breakup was even tougher due to their shared daughter.

“There are so many different moments in our life where we look at ourselves and say, ‘Who am I and am I being true to that?'” she continued.

“If the answer is no, then you have to make a move because I believe that there are visible scars from staying in places that are not good for us. And they don’t just affect us, they affect everybody around us.”

Turner-Smith and Jackson reached a custody agreement in November last year for their daughter, Juno Rose Diana.

Elsewhere in the interview, she referenced her marriage to the Dr Death actor and said she refused to think of their divorce as a “failure”.

“I don’t think it’s a failure,” Turner-Smith added. “We obviously had such a beautiful moment together. And now it’s time for a new moment for both of us.

Turner-Smith and Jackson had been married since 2019 after first being linked in 2018.

In 2021, Turner-Smith opened up about meeting her husband and the beginning of their relationship.

She made an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers where she revealed she and Jackson had a “one-night stand” and that their romance was not meant to last as long as they thought.

“When I first met my husband, we had a one-night stand,” she revealed. “We’re in a two, three-year one-night stand now.”

The couple previously sparked split rumours in September 2022 when they unfollowed each other on Instagram – where they had previously declared their love for one another – but soon refollowed each other on the app.

Prior to his marriage to Turner-Smith, Jackson dated Diane Kruger for 10 years before the couple split in 2016.
